How it works

  1. Record your messageA video of up to five minutes. It stays private and is never published.
  2. Name three trusted contactsAt least one must be a professional: a lawyer, doctor, financial adviser, executor, social worker or religious leader.
  3. Check in once a yearA short yearly review keeps your message and your contacts up to date.
  4. Release only when sureIf you stop replying, we contact your trusted contacts. Two of them, including the professional, must confirm your death. Then there is a 21-day wait, and one click from you cancels everything.

What Cairn is not

Not a will

It cannot transfer property, appoint guardians or change your will. For that, speak to a lawyer.

Not public

Your message goes only to the people you name. Nothing is posted anywhere.

Not a guarantee

No service can detect a death by itself. Cairn relies on your trusted contacts. If they cannot be reached, your message may not be delivered.

One price, once a year

S$120 + GST

That is S$130.80 a year with GST, billed once a year. Planned launch price; it may change before launch.

Many people have no lawyer or adviser to name. We are looking at a version where Cairn arranges a professional contact for you.

Questions

What happens if Cairn shuts down?

You would get written notice, a way to download your own file, a refund of the unused part of your fee, and your data would be deleted. We do not promise that a message is delivered after Cairn itself fails.

What if I am travelling or ill and miss the yearly check-in?

Missing a check-in never releases anything. We email you several times, then message you, then contact your trusted contacts. Any reply from you at any point stops everything. Release needs two confirmations and a 21-day wait.

Can Cairn see my video?

We are designing it so that Cairn alone cannot decrypt your message. That is not built yet, and we will say so plainly when it is.

Is this live in countries other than Singapore?

We plan to start in Singapore.
